Range & Student Policies

At Cadence Defense, our mission is to provide a safe, professional, and enjoyable learning experience for every student. Whether you're attending your first firearms class or continuing your training, these policies help ensure a positive experience for everyone on the range.

Before You Arrive

Please Arrive Early

Plan to arrive 15–20 minutes before your scheduled class begins.

This gives you time to:

• Check in

• Complete any required paperwork

• Organize your equipment

• Meet your instructors

• Ask any last-minute questions

Classes begin promptly at their scheduled start time.

What to Bring

Your class confirmation email will include any equipment requirements specific to your course.

Unless otherwise noted, students should bring:

• A safe, functional firearm appropriate for the class

• Appropriate ammunition

• Eye protection

• Hearing protection

• Closed-toe shoes

• Weather-appropriate clothing

• Water and snacks (recommended for longer classes)

If you're unsure whether your equipment is suitable, please contact us before class.

Firearm Safety Upon Arrival

For everyone's safety:

• Firearms must arrive unloaded unless otherwise instructed.

• Firearms should remain holstered or cased until directed by an instructor.

• Do not handle firearms in the parking lot.

• Follow all instructor directions before uncasing or handling your firearm.

Safety is always our highest priority.

Ammunition

Only factory-loaded ammunition in the appropriate caliber is permitted unless specifically authorized by the instructor.

The following are generally not permitted unless specifically approved:

• Armor-piercing ammunition (this includes green-tip LAP or steel core ammunition)

• Incendiary ammunition

• Tracer ammunition

• Explosive projectiles

Some training locations may have additional ammunition restrictions.

Safety on the Range

Every student is expected to follow the Four Universal Rules of Firearm Safety and all instructor directions.

Students who engage in unsafe behavior may be removed from class without refund if necessary to protect the safety of others.

Examples include:

• Ignoring instructor commands

• Sweeping another person with a firearm

• Repeated muzzle discipline violations

• Unsafe trigger finger placement

• Reckless or disruptive conduct

• Appearing impaired by alcohol or drugs

Our instructors are committed to maintaining a safe learning environment for everyone.

Alcohol and Drugs

Students may not participate in any live-fire training while under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, cannabis, or any medication that impairs safe firearm handling.

Cadence Defense reserves the right to deny participation whenever an instructor reasonably believes a student's ability to participate safely is impaired.

Respect for Others

We welcome students from all backgrounds and experience levels.

We ask every participant to:

• Treat others with courtesy and respect.

• Support fellow students in their learning.

• Maintain a positive training environment.

• Avoid disruptive behavior.

Our goal is to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and developing new skills.

Weather

Most classes are conducted rain or shine.

Please dress appropriately for changing weather conditions.

If weather creates unsafe conditions, Cadence Defense will notify registered students as soon as possible regarding postponements or cancellations.

Photography and Video

Photographs or video may occasionally be taken during classes for educational or promotional purposes.

If you prefer not to appear in photographs or video, please let your instructor know before class begins. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

Students are welcome and encouraged to take photos during appropriate breaks, provided doing so does not interfere with instruction or compromise the privacy or safety of others.

Cell Phones

Please silence your phone before class begins.

If you need to make or receive an urgent call, simply notify an instructor and step away from the firing line.

Children and Spectators

For safety reasons, only registered students may participate in training unless prior arrangements have been made with Cadence Defense.

Children and spectators are generally not permitted to attend.

Physical Limitations or Accommodations

If you have a medical condition, mobility limitation, hearing impairment, or other circumstance that may affect your participation, please let us know before class.

Whenever reasonably possible, we will work with you to provide an enjoyable and successful training experience.

Questions Are Encouraged

No one knows everything—and everyone starts somewhere.

Whether this is your first time handling a firearm or your hundredth trip to the range, we encourage questions throughout class. Our instructors are here to help you learn in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment.
